I don't understand Foxglove.

It's been awhile.
Here's a nice picture of our garden in full bloom.
We've got foxglove in the back, knockout roses in the middle, and salvia in the front.

After the heavy rains all of the rose blooms disappeared, but they're coming back for the second round now.

This looked great for a few weeks, but unfortunately now the foxglove is starting to dry out, and the leaves are turning whitish. This happened to our other set of Foxglove, and it completely dried out and died. It was weird because the soil was moist the entire time. I don't recall the type of Foxglove that we purchased, but it was clearly marked as "Perennial."

The leaves are starting to turn white and to dry out.

This is our other set of Foxglove which died a couple of weeks ago. I cut it down because it was an eyesore.

Redoing the Apartment Frontage

We finally got around to redoing the area in front of our apartment. There used to be two - 20 ft tall everygreens but they starting leaning over so much that it was a liability for the condo. So they were cut down without any warning. Here's the original evergreens, which apparently were not supposed to grow up more than 8 or 10 ft when they were planted 15 years ago. We actually purchased the same species for the replant, Cypress evergreen, and it said that they could grow up to 100ft:
Here's some images of what it looked like for 2 months, ugh:

Here's what it looked like after half a day of work and $350 worth of mulch, soil, evergreens, knock-out roses, and perennials. We still need to remove the stumps. Tada!

Our first BBQ!

We finally fired up the BBQ with our ultra-cool quickfire starter chimney that doesn't require any lighter fluid.

An outdoor space in Manhattan is sweet. All of our neighbors probably that we're crazy since it's not really that warm out.

Brooklyn Cherry Blossoms

Today we went to see the Cherry Blossoms at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. We went four years ago and it was great, but for the past three years we always seem to miss them for one reason or another. Today worked out great and we even remembered to bring the camera. Afterwards we went to Union Hall and had some good beer. One was Left Hand Stout which was light colored and not too bitter. The other was the Victory Stout which had a nice coffee flavor.

First Entry

This is the first entry of our first joint blog. Hopefully it will serve as a way to keep track of all of the excitement in our lives and lack thereof. Also it serves as a fantastic means of procrastinating.
